Accessibility Consultants in Toronto

Web and document accessibility consultants based in the Greater Toronto Area: AODA and WCAG audits, remediation, accessible PDFs and conformance reports for Toronto organizations, with in-person assistive-technology testing and workshops where they help.

Based in the Greater Toronto Area, working across Ontario

Cantan Group is a Markham-based consultancy that has served Toronto-area organizations for over a decade: the City of Toronto, Sunnybrook, the Centre for Effective Practice, Ontario Brain Institute, HEQCO, UNICEF Canada and Halton Children’s Aid Society among them. We are an Ontario Vendor of Record, and we hold our own site to the conformance report we would ask of anyone else.

The whole accessibility practice — audits, remediation, documents, conformance reports and monitoring — is available to organizations anywhere in the province, and most of it happens remotely because that is how the work is done well. What this page adds is the part that is better in a room: a screen-reader user walking your team through your own site, a workshop for the editors who publish to it, and a briefing for the people who have to sign the compliance report.

What we do in person

Most accessibility work is remote by nature. Some of it is better in a room.

Assistive-technology sessions with your team

Watching a screen-reader user meet your site changes how a team builds. We run these sessions at your office or ours, with your product in front of the people who own it.

Author and editor training

Half-day workshops for the people who publish: headings, links, images, documents, and the ten habits that keep a compliant site compliant.

Procurement and compliance briefings

For directors and clerks: what the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act actually requires of an organization your size, what the compliance report asks, and what evidence to keep.

On-site document intake

For archives too large or too sensitive to upload: we assess on your premises and remediate on a schedule.

Who we work with in the city and the region

The City and its agencies

Municipal departments, boards and agencies with council material, forms and public notices that must be accessible the day they are posted. The City of Toronto is among the organizations we have served.

Hospitals and health organizations

Clinical tools and patient information where structure carries meaning — Sunnybrook, the Centre for Effective Practice and Ontario Brain Institute are among the organizations we have served.

Post-secondary, agencies and non-profits

Institutions and organizations across the region that answer to the public and to funders — HEQCO, UNICEF Canada, Halton Children’s Aid Society among them.

Questions we're asked

Do you only work in Toronto?

No. The practice serves all of Ontario and works remotely by default; we have clients across the province and beyond. This page exists because some of the work — testing sessions, training, briefings, sensitive document intake — is better done in person, and we are in the Greater Toronto Area to do it.

Are you an Ontario Vendor of Record?

Yes, for I&IT solutions consulting services. For Ontario ministries and the broader public sector that means we can be engaged through the supply arrangement rather than a full procurement. Details are on the Vendor of Record page.

Where do we start?

With a conversation, which the panel at the foot of any page opens. If you already know what you need, the audit, remediation, documents and conformance report pages describe each service and how it is priced.
